- How I Built My Monolithic Dome Home
This is the story and slide show of the construction of my MONOLITHIC DOME (not Geodesic!), the most energy efficient and structurally sound building on the face of the planet.
About
This is the brief story of my Monolithic Dome construction project begun in 2002. After nearly losing two houses to natural disasters (tornado and forest fire), I wanted to find a way to build a house that could withstand the forces of Mother Nature. After looking at alternative methods available, this one jumped out out as being the answer to all levels of safety, energy efficiency and the most aesthetically pleasing. It is insulated sprayed concrete protected by a membrane called an "airform". Because the concept is unique in the northeast, i ended up contracting the project myself, as no one else could comprehend the curved exterior walls interfacing with the straight plane of the windows and doors. There were and still are problems from unscrupulous contractors, but the basis of the structure is still remarkable.
Now that I have been living in the structure for over five years, I can attest to the tales of its strength and legendary efficiency are true. If you are considering a green construction project, i would absolutely tell you to take a look at this. For further details, you can visit my website at www.CatskillMountainDomes.com.

Having seen Peggy's dome home firsthand, I can attest to its elegance and comfort, too. Uncluttered open soaring space combined with intimate private areas -- and for a musician like myself, I appreciate it as a marvelous acoustical space as well!

Interesting idea, and the shape is in touch with nature. But I do not like the idea of using concrete as building material. It would be better to use natural building material
